Liujun Xiao is an associate professor at Nanjing Agricultural University and deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Crop System Analysis and Decision Making. He leads the development of the ‘SmartCrop’ agricultural AI agent—a large-scale model that integrates satellite remote sensing, UAV imagery, in‑situ sensors, and local farm data to deliver whole‑chain decision support, from planting and crop monitoring to disaster early‑warning, agricultural management planning, and harvest scheduling. His research focuses on crop system modelling, climate impact assessment, hybrid modelling, and sustainable agriculture. He also supervises graduate students and postdoctoral researchers and teaches several courses at NAU, including Smart Agricultural Technology, Information Agriculture Technology, and Statistics.
