Sophia Ye

Yuanjing Ye holds a PhD in Education from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. Her research focuses on intercultural communication, Global Englishes, and the internationalisation of English language education. Her academic interests include overseas study experiences and intercultural adaptation, language practices and identity construction, as well as language policy and the internationalisation of higher education.

She has extensive international experience in language education and intercultural research. She has taught English in the United Kingdom, Russia, and Shanghai, China. Her teaching experience includes courses in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), where she has taught academic reading, writing, and presentation skills to international postgraduate students. She has also taught AP and A-Level English courses, as well as Business English and Cambridge English examination preparation courses (FCE, CAE, and IELTS).

In recent years, her research has focused on the linguistic practices and intercultural identity construction of non-native English speakers in the context of Global Englishes. She is also interested in language dissemination and educational cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Her research has been published in international academic journals including Journal of Intercultural Communication Research, Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, and Food, Culture & Society. She has also presented her work at major international conferences, including the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA), the European Conference on Language Learning (ECLL), and the Global Virtual Exchange Summit.

In teaching, she advocates task-based language teaching and communicative language teaching, emphasising a student-centred approach. Her goal is to cultivate internationally minded talents with strong intercultural awareness and the ability to use English effectively in professional and global contexts.
