主要从事小麦遗传育种方面的研究,从小麦近缘种中发掘和利用有益基因,定位和克隆控制小麦重要抗病、产量相关的基因,研究遗传调控机制。主持国家自然科学基金、江苏省自然科学基金等项目,参与国家重点研发计划、国家转基因专项等课题研究。发表或参与SCI论文40余篇,专利3项。
