长期从事杀虫剂毒理和害虫抗药性机理以及昆虫生殖行为与害虫遗传控制等方面的研究，主持国家自然科学基金优秀青年基金项目和面上项目等多项课题，阐明了褐飞虱对吡蚜酮、噻嗪酮等，二化螟对氯虫苯甲酰胺、甲氧虫酰肼和阿维菌素等杀虫剂产生抗药性的演化规律和分子机制，解析了褐飞虱、二化螟、草地贪夜蛾等重大农业害虫生殖行为的遗传和神经机制，构建了靶向害虫生殖行为的遗传控制技术，在Nature Communications, Advance Sciences, Current Biology, eLife, PLoS Genetics, Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Pest Management Science, Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology等重要国际学术刊物发表论文120余篇，累计引用3000余次。
