Prof. Dr. Gao HU has long been engaged in research on insect migration and its monitoring and early warning systems. He has conducted research at Rothamsted Research and the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. He has led more than 10 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Excellent Young Scientist Fund, International Cooperation Key Project, General Projects), the National Key Research and Development Program, and the Jiangsu Provincial Natural Science Foundation (Outstanding Young Scientist Fund). As the corresponding author, he has published over 100 papers in journals such as Science (2016), Current Biology (2019), PNAS (2021, 2024, 2025), Global Change Biology (2023), and Annual Review of Entomology (2025). He received the Second Prize of Guizhou Provincial Natural Science Award in 2023 as the first awardee. He is currently a Council Member of the Ecological Society of China, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Information Technology Committee, Pest Forecasting Committee, and Plant Protection Systems Engineering Committee of the China Society of Plant Protection, a Member of the Insect Ecology Committee of the Entomological Society of China, Associate Editor of npj Entomology, and Editorial Board Member of New Plant Protection, Insects, and Journal of Environmental Entomology.
